A small group painting class focused on how the quality of an edge (hard or soft) and the warmth or coolness of a color communicate light and depth. We'll have a real flower still life set up at the table along with printed references to choose from.
4 to 6 people. All levels welcome.
Date & Time: 10-1pm on Saturday, June 27, 2026
Location: Volunteer Park, Seattle. I'll send the exact location pin via text about 30 minutes before we start. Give yourself a few extra minutes to find us and park, especially if it's your first time.
Level: All levels are welcome
What's included
Everything you need is taken care of:
Acrylic paints and mediums
Brushes
Canvas paper for warm-ups and a stretched canvas for the main painting
Palettes and easels
Flower still life and printed reference images
Snacks and soft drinks
Full setup and cleanup
Just wear something you don't mind getting paint on.
Format
Each session runs about three hours, sometimes a little longer if you need it. I'll have a table set up in the cutest spot I can find.
We start with intention setting, a lesson related to the theme, and warm-up exercises to practice skills you will use for your main painting.
Around halfway through we stop for a snack break on a picnic blanket. It's a nice reset before the second half.
From there you'll settle into your own painting, using a reference image and putting what you learned in the first half to use. Once you start your piece I'll come around to each person throughout the session to ask about what you're going for, help you figure out your next move, and keep you from getting stuck.
Every session ends with a painting that's yours.
Pricing: The price is $80 per person, including Seattle taxes (10.35%) and fees. I want this class to be accessible. If the price is a barrier, use code FRIEND15 for $15 off your order. I'm also working on shorter sessions at a lower price point, so stay tuned for those.
