From the series What Holds Us Together When Things Fall Apart?
This painting captures a moment at Seward park, part of an ongoing exploration of the places I return to when I need perspective. I’m drawn to shared public spaces because they offer a quiet kind of steadiness.
When I watch something move across water, I think about how no motion happens in isolation. Each shift creates a response. Each ripple reaches something else. Being among others feels similar to me. We affect one another simply by sharing space. This piece reflects that kind of connection, where cohesion doesn’t come from uniformity but from moving in relation.

This print is part of the series What Holds Us Together When Things Fall Apart? These paintings explore the everyday spaces I return to for grounding and perspective during uncertain times.
I’ve always been drawn to reflections on water and the way they act like a mirror but never give a completely clear answer. The surface is constantly shifting. Depending on where you stand, it can reflect the world back to you or reveal what’s beneath it.
Being near water feels regulating to me. Its movement has a rhythm that can calm or activate, the way music does. This piece leans into contrast and saturation, allowing color and motion to carry the emotional tone.
